About Us
Welcome to the BUBBLE Universe!
We've been in action since 2011, and in all this time we already published more than 12 thousands of comic book pages and created around 250 thousands of drawings. With every new issue separate series overlapped with each other more and more, their plots became intertwined, and in the end our own Universe was created. Here amazing heroes live among simple people and never fail to find themselves in the middle of yet another fascinating story.
Our readers have an opportunity to really feel close to our heroes, because they also live in Russia, walk the same streets, shop in the same stores, and even while living in space they dream of nostalgic red and yellow colored trams.
These heroes come alive on paper thanks to our amazing artists, each one with their own unique and distinctive style, while our writers create the most bold and extraordinary stories, making the characters' personalities really shine. That's why people fall in love with BUBBLE, and it's thanks to their love that we contunue to exist, release new comic series, introduce new characters, and organize new events.
While expanding our own Universe, we also pay close attention to original projects of different Russian authors, each of them a whole event on their own.
Today BUBBLE isn't just another publisher, but a multi-profile enterprise taking over every form of entertainment - video games, animation, and cinema, of course! The development of our very first full-length movie is well underway, and it's just the beginning for our own Cinematic Universe. We also created a separate digital branch - BUBBLE Digital, where we master the magic of new technology: currently, we're developing our own digital platform using machine learning, computer vision and neural networks.
2011: The Beginning
When BUBBLE first appeared, no one could even imagine what it was going to become.
The BUBBLE publishing house was established in 2011.
In September 2011 the first issue of a humorous comic magazine BUBBLE was released.
In May 2012 the ninth issue of the BUBBLE magazine was released, which was also the final one.
2012: The Great Four
A year later BUBBLE started shaping up our first worlds.
In October 2012 first issues of our main four monthly comic series came out: Demonslayer, the action-horror, Major Grom, the detective adventures, Friar, the historical fantasy, and Red Fury, the espionage action. That's how the BUBBLE superhero universe was born.
The first ever BUBBLE crossover, "Friar versus Demonslayer", was coming out from December 2013 to February 2014.
2014: The Recognition
Since 2014 BUBBLE starts taking part in different kinds of festivals — the big ones and the even bigger ones.
In October 2014 BUBBLE was a participant of the first ever Comic Con Russia — the biggest Russian comic book festival. That's where BUBBLE presented their first trade paperbacks, as well as announced two more series — Meteora, the space opera, and Exlibrium, the urban fantasy.
In July 2015 BUBBLE was an official guest at San Diego Comic Con, the biggest American comic festival. It was the first time ever that Russian comics were presented at a foreign festival of such scale. BUBBLE presented our first artbook made especially for the festival, prototypes of a Red Fury figurine, and examples of their printed products in Russian. At the same time it was announced that BUBBLE series will now be published through ComiXology, the largest English-speaking comic book portal. Russian comics received a very warm welcome from SDCC audience, which played a big role in selling translated digital BUBBLE comics. Since that day, BUBBLE became an annual SDCC participant.
In October 2015 BUBBLE announced the creation of BUBBLE Studios, our cinema branch, which was also the beginning of the comic book based movie Major Grom's production. Besides that, a new series came into print, this time intended for the little readers - Ziggy the Space Hamster.
2015: Moving Forward
In any given industry you just can't afford being idle, so BUBBLE continued to grow.
"Time of the Raven", the first global BUBBLE crossover, was coming out from October 2015 to March 2016, uniting all six series under a big raven wing and turning the status quo of the Universe upside down once and for all.
In November 2015 BUBBLE created BUBBLE Visions, an imprint focused on publishing Russian authors' original comics, completely unrelated to the main BUBBLE Universe. The imprint's main goal was and still is to help Russian authors publish their comics and introduce them to the world.
In March 2016 BUBBLE organized the first ever comic festival of our own — HomyaCon (in literal translation — HamsterCon), purposely coinciding the date with the Time of the Raven's finale.
In March 2016 BUBBLE also launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish the first "Exlibrium" hard-cover book, fully translated into English. The campaign was ridiculously successful: it raised 2,5 times more money than the initial goal.
2016: The Age of the Trailer
The short film Major Grom blew up the comic book community — and not only in Russia.
In October 2016 at Comic Con Russia BUBBLE presented the first trailer of the Major Grom short film. It was that same year that BUBBLE also became one of the official Comic Con Russia organizers and created the Authors Alley, a section of the festival where you can meet various Russian authors as well as invited stars from abroad. Right after the end of Comic Con Russia BUBBLE also became a regular participant of one more American festival — New York Comic Con.
In December 2016 BUBBLE organized a winter HomyaCon and released the final 50th issues of the main four series — Demonslayer, Major Grom, Friar, and Red Fury, marking their stories as complete. That's also where the sales for the first collectible BUBBLE figurine, Red Fury, officially started. A new series was announced — BUBBLE Legends, the antology of prequels, spin-offs, and other stories about different characters of the BUBBLE Universe.
2017: Second Wind
Every end is a new beginning. Philosophical, but true.
In January 2017 four completely new series came in stead of those that ended: "Allies", "Igor Grom", "Realmwalkers", and the second phase of "Demonslayer". This initiative was named the Second Wind.
In February 2017 short film "Major Grom" was presented at the Berlin International Film Festival. Later that Moscow and Saint-Petersburg could enjoy premier screenings, after which the film was officially uploaded to YouTube.com free for the public, where it has been watched for more than 4,5 million times already.
In Septmber 2017 at Comic Con Russia a new monthly series was announced. "Coolix", a new story for kids came to replace "Ziggy the Space Hamster". Aside from that, our counter also welcomed such new additions as the first issue of BUBBLE Legends and hard-cover books of the Second Wind series. And, of course, how could we forget the teaser of the first ever Russian comic book based movie "Major Grom: The Plague Doctor" — also shown at the same festival!
2018: New Heroes
The world could always use some more heroes, so BUBBLE went looking for them.
In June 2018 a new comic initiative was launched — BUBBLE New Heroes, meant to give new authors a chance to create their own independent comic and compete for the right to release a full-fledged monthly series within the BUBBLE Universe.
In November 2018 the editors chose nine finalists of the BUBBLE New Heroes initiative, and their comics were digitally released in the course of the upcoming year. It was also in November that the first issues of our comics in Italian were printed.
In April 2019 we organized the first ever BUBBLE Fest — a festival of our own, an heir to HomyaCon, with its themes expanded from just comics to movies, TV series, video games, and board games.
In August 2019 all BUBBLE New Heroes comics were released in print.
Today
We presented a lot of new stuff at Comic Con Russia 2019. One of them is our digital platform BUBBLE Digital, and this site is a part of it. This platform will help us to get closer to our readers, while our new app "BUBBLE. Our comics" makes reading comics more comfortable.
Also at Comic Con Russia 2019 we presented our first animation project — "Coolix". It's a 2D cartoon made for children and their parents that tells a story of cosmic adventures of a super team consisting of Ziggy the space hamster ,Ruby the squirrel, and their friends from Earth — Rex the dog and Sol the cat.

However the main event of the Comic Con Russia 2019 was our "Major Grom: Plague Doctor" full-length movie presentation. We introduced our actors, told some info about the plot and the story, showed a short footage from behind the scenes and did a signing session with the cast.
Bubble Comics releases monthly series of fantastic colorful comics, and BUBBLE Studios is working on the first ever full-length Russian comic book screen adaptation — "Major Grom: The Plague Doctor". Since the day our publishing house was founded, we released more than a 1 000 single issues and more than a 100 books — both compilations of existing series and completely new projects. We're known in Russia and all over the world — and we're not going to stop here!
